TRANSFAST(TM) TRANSFECTION REAGENT - Risk and Safety
TRANSFAST(TM) TRANSFECTION REAGENT - Introduction
(2,3-Dioleoyl-propyl)-trimethylamine (MS salt) DOTAP is a cationic lipid with a wide range of applications. The following is a description of the properties, uses, preparation and safety information of the compound:
Nature:
-Appearance: White to slightly yellow solid
-Molecular formula: C45H86NO8S
-Molecular weight: 772.18g/mol
-Solubility: Soluble in water and form cationic lipid micelles in water
- pH stability range: 4-9
-Possible applications: construction of DNA, RNA, siRNA and other drug delivery vectors
Use:
-Carrier: Due to its cationic properties, it can be used as a gene or drug delivery carrier. In gene therapy, DOTAP can form a complex with DNA or RNA to help the drug cross the cell membrane into the cell interior, to achieve gene transfection.
-Cell stimulant: DOTAP can be used as an immune adjuvant in cell stimulation experiments.
Preparation Method:
The preparation of DOTAP can be carried out by a chemical synthesis method. One commonly used method is the reaction of 1,2-dioleoyl-3-phosphocholine (DOCP) with trimethylamine to form the ammonium phosphate hydrate of DOTAP. Subsequently, after removing water, it is reacted with methanesulfonic acid to produce the final DOTAP(methyl sulfate salt).
Safety Information:
DOTAP is a potentially irritating substance, so it is necessary to pay attention to safety during operation and handling. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes, and ensure use in a well-ventilated environment. In the process of use, should be strictly in accordance with the safety operation procedures.
